Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the substance was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
An important official commented the attack left him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
